Explosive action from Splendid Film
Press release - October 18, 2007
(Cologne 18.10.2007) - They battle against evil and attempt to survive: Til Schweiger, Zack Ward, Tony Jaa, Tony Leung, Li Bai - and they all provide fiery action, sensational fight scenes, and wild rampages - ultimate suspense for the audience.
Splendid Film GmbH, of Cologne, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Splendid Medien AG, of Cologne, will market Far Cry, the new film version of a computer game from the German producer and director Uwe Boll, starring Til Schweiger, in German-speaking countries. Schweiger, as a lone warrior on a lonely island, eliminates lots of villains. Another feature-film adaptation of a computer game is the black comedy Postal, also produced and directed by Uwe Boll, in which new U.S. star Zack Ward (Transformers and Resident Evil: Apocalypse) tries to fatten up his piggy bank with a robbery - which goes well and truly wrong
In Ong Bak II, the sequel to the exciting Thai-boxing hit Ong Bak (Top 4 in the German DVD charts), martial-arts superstar Tony Jaa will once again take on Bangkok's underworld and mix it up with the whole genre.
Numerous stars of Hong Kong's movie industry, including Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung, and Li Bai, engage in dramatic sword fights against a spectacular desert background in Ashes of Time Redux. Ashes of Time Redux is a re-cut version of the prize-winning martial-arts epic Dung Che Sai Duk by Wong Kar-Wai (In the Mood for Love, Happy Together, 2046), the avant-garde director from Hong Kong, who provided the opening film for this year's Cannes Film Festival.
Some of these films are still in production or post-production, and will be released by Splendid Film starting in early 2008.
