Press release - October 29, 2008
Hamburg (Germany), 29 October 2008 On 23 October 2008, Enteractive received the Video Entertainment Business Award 2008 for its pioneering work as a developer of Blu-ray games. The award is granted annually by Entertainment Media Verlag (a Gruner + Jahr publishing house).
The panel of judges explains its decision as follows: Its still hard to believe when you have a seemingly simple DVD in front of you, but technology is always required to go to extreme lengths to enable us to enjoy a cosy evening of entertainment on the couch. Enteractive is one of the creative software producers in Germany who will happily go to these extreme lengths. Managing Director Hans D. Henseleits highly motivated team works incessantly on new technical solutions that help shape the enjoyment of entertainment media experienced by all couch potatoes in a simple and amusing way.
The Hamburg developers took advantage of the new high-definition format of the Blu-ray disc in a quite particular fashion: with their innovative Sudokia game, a digital transformation of Sudoku, they have proven that even the simplest of Blu-ray players can be converted into games consoles with the greatest of ease as long as their functions are utilised accordingly. This led to the birth of a completely new type of programme.
For their pioneering work in developing Blu-ray games, the Video Champion Business Award goes quite rightly to Enteractive.
Hans D. Henseleit commented: Casual gaming on Blu-ray disc represents a new fast-growth market for the video industry. Thanks to the technical diversity of the Blue-ray disc, the home video entertainment industry can now tap into new business areas. We hope that the industry will follow our initiative and produce further games based on the Blu-ray format.
Since 2000, the prize, awarded by a panel of judges, has been granted to home entertainment programme and service providers whose products have been launched in the previous twelve months on the German language market. The evaluation concentrates on outstanding design and exceptional technical performance. In addition, industry personalities, companies and celebrities are honoured on the Video Night for their achievements within the home entertainment market.
