AMSTERDAMNED II makes film history: first Dutch IMAX® release

Intense experience - First Dutch film on IMAX
The film was shot in and around Amsterdam's canals, which once again form the backdrop for brutal murders and plenty of mystery. This time more intense than ever. Amsterdamned II is the first Dutch film to be shown in IMAX. Thanks to IMAX technology, the film really comes to life with razor-sharp images, powerful sound and a compelling cinema experience. This morning, guests were treated to an exclusive preview: the trailer for Amsterdamned II was shown for the first time on the big screen at Pathé's Royal Theatre Tuschinski.
Evert Nuijten, Content Acquisition Manager at Pathé: "We are extremely proud that Pathé, together with distributor Splendid Film B.V., has succeeded in giving this iconic film the first ever IMAX release for a Dutch film. Amsterdamned II, the long-awaited sequel to the 1988 classic, deserves the biggest screen and the most spectacular experience. During filming, we saw an opportunity, together with Splendid, to launch this production in an “un-Dutch” way – and we succeeded."
A city gripped by fear
In Amsterdamned II, Huub Stapel once again plays the role of detective Eric Visser, now retired. His quiet life is interrupted when the capital is once again shaken by a series of gruesome murders that are eerily reminiscent of a case from decades ago. The young, ambitious detective Tara Lee (Holly Mae Brood) asks Visser for help. Together, they embark on a dark quest through the canals of Amsterdam, where no one appears to be safe...
Amsterdamned II was produced by 2CFILM, Parachute Pictures, Guess WHO and Potemkino and is distributed by Splendid Film B.V.. Amsterdamned II will be showing in all cinemas, including IMAX theatres in the Netherlands, from 4 December.
